Steel remnants of the 17th Street Bridge awning
ATLANTA (WXIA) -- The investigation into the collapse of the 17th Street Bridge awning back in August is now complete.
Tuesday, a briefing is expected to take place between forensic scientists who investigated the collapse and officials from the Georgia Department of Transportation. The investigative firm of Wiss, Janney and Elstner is expected to reveal preliminary findings of the collapse in a verbal report.
Specific details of the briefing are not being released, but a comprehensive written report is expected to be delivered within the next few weeks.
A 170 foot stretch of the protective fencing crashed 50 feet to the pavement onto the Northbound lane of the Downtown Connector in August.
