Ten days ago, the Paper Mill Road Bridge over Sope Creek in Cobb County was shut down to traffic due to an emergency repair. Engineers discovered a large hole at the base of a critical support column caused by raging flood water after a 100 year storm back in July. Hours later, crews were on scene working to shore up the column. They worked for 42-straight hours in order to re-open the bridge for Monday morning traffic.
