Jaquez Douse was captured on May 1, 2012.
ATLANTA -- Jaquez Douse, 11Alive's Fugitive of the Week for April 11, was captured on May 1. After receiving a tip through Crime Stoppers Atlanta US Marshals were lead directly to an apartment in Forest Park where Douse was hiding out.
Deputy US Marshal said the tip came from someone who saw Douse featured on 11 Alive News. "The caller advised that the individual that was featured on the 11 Alive special Fugitive of the Week was residing in that area," said Deputy US Marshal Eric Heinze.
Douse, 24, was wanted for a November 2011 murder in Southwest Atlanta.
On November 12, 2011, Douse and 26-year-old Kevin James Scott of Atlanta had an argument on the fourth floor of the Cityview Apartments on Richardson Street.
"At some point, that verbal altercation became physical," Heinze said. "Mr. Douse pulled out a weapon, subsequently shooting the victim several times throughout his body."
Scott, known to his friends as "Big Kev," was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Scott's mother and a friend, hip hop artist Young Jeezy, were at the hospital.
The Atlanta rapper talked about the death in an interview posted on Hip Hop DX, a music news website. "I sat in the room with his mother, his brother, you know the nurse walked in and she said I'm sorry you lost your son to multiple gunshot wounds to the chest and she walked out and left her to deal with that," Young Jeezy said.
The U.S. Marshals said Douse has ties to Decatur and to gangs in Atlanta's Mechanicsville neighborhood.
