ATLANTA -- Police are on the scene in Oakland City after an unsuccessful attempt to question a man Thursday morning.
According to the Atlanta Public Safety Headquarters, Zone 4 Crime Suppression Units tried to stop and question a suspicious male near Princess Avenue around 10 a.m.
Police said the man was riding a bicycle. When approaced by police, he got off the bicycle and went behind a house.
Police officers then heard a gunshot. They took cover and requested additional units to the scene.
These units, and the Atlanta Police SWAT Unit searched the area. They recovered a weapon, but have not located the suspect.
A school in the area was placed on lock-down during the search.
The scene is now clear. Units will continue working to identify the suspect.
