BRUNSWICK, Ga. -- Police have released heartbreaking 911 tapes that came in moments after an infant was shot and killed in the southeast Georgia city of Brunswick.
One caller described the mother of the child screaming in the street.
Another person told the dispatcher that she heard the shot.
At a news conference Friday afternoon, police announced they had arrested 17-year-old Demarquis Elkins and a 14-year-old for the shooting.
The mother of the infant who was killed, Sherry West, had harsh words for the suspects.
"I hate you and I don't forgive you. You killed an innocent human being," said West.
Thursday morning, West said she was walking her 13 month old son Antonio in his stroller when two teenagers approached her demanding money.
She said one of the teens shot her in the leg, then shot and killed her infant.
Katrina Freeman is the aunt of suspect De"Marquise Elkins and insists he was not at the crime scene.
"He didn't do this. I feel horrible for that baby and what happened, but my nephew was with me," said Freeman.
Police say they are still investigating to pinpoint who did the shooting.
