MSGT. Dwight and SFC Erica Mitchell returned from overseas tours and 11Alive helped them thank their kids' teachers.

Atlanta - When Erica and Dwight Mitchell left for their Army assignments overseas a year ago, their children stayed with Erica's parents in Atlanta. Erica headed for Iraq and Dwight to Saudi Arabia.

They knew they were in good hands both at home and at school, A. Phillip Randolph Elementary.

Now, the Mitchells are back and grateful to fourth grade teacher, Audrey May, and third grade teacher, Boobie May.

To show their appreciation, Dwight gave gave each of the teachers special coins for taking such good care of their children in their absence.

11Alive's Donna Lowry wanted to show appreciation by giving each of the teachers gift cards to use at Target Stores.

In addition, Donna and 11Alive treated the entire Mitchell family to dinner at Applebees with gift cards to the restaurant.  She also gave them complimentary tickets to the Atlanta World of Coke Cola

Now the family will be able to enjoy the kind of family outings they have spent a year missing.
