Georgia voters during July 31, 2012 Primary Election
BROOKHAVEN, Ga. -- Brookhaven native Max Davis was elected mayor in the city's inaugural election on Tuesday evening.
Unofficial returns showed that David won the runoff election with 66% of the vote over Sandy Murray, who received 34% of the vote.
Davis is now tasked with creating a brand new city government for 50,000 residents. The city will begin with a city budget of $25 Million and will contract DeKalb County for police services until Brookhaven can hire it's own police force.
Brookhaven will officially become a city on December 17.
