Shawn Hoder

Shawn joined 11Alive News in 2009 and is a member of the 11Alive Investigators. The team strives to take action and get results for Atlantans.

Shawn's career began in Steubenville, Ohio, as a producer for WTOV-9. That lasted about 2 years as he then moved to WPXI in Pittsburgh, PA where his passion for investigative journalism began to surface. Mr. Hoder was awarded 4 Emmy awards and 2 Murrow awards during his 3 year stint there. It was in Pittsburgh that he realized his calling, that his passion for investigative story telling was going to force him to branch out.

Next, Shawn moved to WFTV in Orlando, FL. He was named the Senior Investigative producer and started to dabble in photography. His dabbling paid off as he was proudly recognized in the South with 7 Emmy awards and 1 regional Murrow award for investigative and consumer journalism.

Now being recognized within Cox broadcasting, Mr. Hoder was asked to head up a unit in Seattle, at KIRO-TV. Another 3 years later, another bevvy of awards including 5 Emmys and 1 Murrow, Shawn gained national attention for his investigative journalism and became recognized at IRE (Investigative reporters and editors), as well as teaching and holding seminars there.

But Shawn' heart always belonged to the East Coast, and after 3 years, he headed to the Nation's Capital. He joined the team at WJLA in Washington, DC. In 2003, Mr. Hoder helped revive the '7 On Your Side' franchise, and was blessed to be recognized with 13 Emmy awards and 2 Murrow awards for his efforts.

But through all this, Mr. Hoder calls Atlanta home. He's been living and working here since 2009. Shawn's passion has only grown since his move to the ATL, where he's won 9 Emmy Awards, 3 Murrow awards and continues to hold the powerful accountable on a daily basis at 11Alive. But, Shawn will be the first to tell you that the reason Atlanta is his home is because of family. He met his wife Brittany here, they had their baby girl Saylor here, they make their home in Buckhead, with their dog named…Emmy.

Shawn graduated from West Liberty State College with a Bachelor's in Communication.

Shawn has won many awards for his work including 38 Emmy Awards and 22 Associated Press Awards, 9 Edward R. Murrow Awards, 3 IRE Awards and 1 from the National Association of Consumer Advocates.
