Adrianne "Addie" Haney is a journalist and writer from Atlanta, Ga. She joined the 11Alive News team in March 2015 as an assignment desk assistant before joining the 11Alive digital team.
Addie studied broadcast journalism at Elon Unviersity in Elon, N.C. where her interests in writing and video production took off. At Elon, she was a member of the award-winning Elon Local News team, where she was a reporter, anchor and digital producer. She also was part of the inaugural staff of Elon's The Edge magazine. Addie also gained experience from internships at NBC Nightly News in New York City and WRAL.com in Raleigh, N.C. She also got the opportunity to cover international Internet conferences in Geneva, Switzerland and Hong Kong, China, as well as the 2012 election of North Carolina's governor Pat McCrory. She finished off her senior year with a fellowship grant to Quito, Ecuador from the Pulitzer Center for Crisis Reporting to report on the country's education system.
As an international studies minor, Addie's curiosity in global affairs pushed her to study abroad in Istanbul, Turkey, where she traveled throughout the country and neighboring countries to learn about the region.
When she is not producing content for 11Alive.com, Addie enjoys music, watching plays, exploring new place, spending time with family and friends, reading, traveling, cooking and crafting. She is also a self-professed space and astronomy geek.
She hopes to one day fuse her loves of storytelling, travel and video production to produce multi-media stories to present to audiences.
