Kim Smith is 11Alive's newest Sports Reporter. She has a strong passion for sports and telling stories that go beyond the statistics, and is excited to be back in her home state.
She is a native of Decatur, GA, having graduated from Southwest DeKalb High School where she participated in the Panther's athletics program. Kim graduated from The University Georgia's Grady College of Journalism, with a Bachelor's degree in Broadcast News, and The College of Family Consumer Sciences with a Bachelor's degree in Consumer Journalism. Kim later moved to Nashville, Tennessee, where she received a Master in Sports Administration from Belmont University, while assisting the WKRN Sports Team.
Along her journey in television, she has gained experience covering the NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL. She has covered three BCS National Championships, four SEC Championships, and has been a part of the media relations committees for Super Bowls XLI and XLIV.
Kim found herself exploring the Mountain West and moved to Denver, Colorado, to work at Altitude Sports Entertainment. She worked behind-the-scenes to provide coverage around the NHL and NBA for the Denver Nuggets and Avalanche pre and postgame shows. She soon migrated back south to join WSFA, WDFX and the Raycom Media Family where she covered the SEC and the SunBelt Conference. She also worked as a Raycom sideline reporter for two seasons for high school football and basketball coverage.
When she's not working, Kim enjoys working out, playing golf and volunteering. Kim has a passion for mentoring young girls. She knows God has a special calling on her life to not only be a voice for the sports community, but to share her personal story with others in hopes to inspire.
