Several new and returning television series are beginning production for the upcoming season in and around metro Atlanta, while several others have already started production.

New X-Men-related superhero series The Gifted begins filming this week in metro Atlanta using the code name 'Heaven.'

The pilot for the series was shot in Dallas, but the show's producers decided to shift production after issues with potential tax rebates from the Texas Legislature. The Gifted begins airing on October 2, on Fox.

One other superhero TV series shooting in metro Atlanta -- Black Lightning -- does not begin filming episodes until August 14. The series is not scheduled to debut on The CW until early 2018, which is why shooting does not start until later than most other shows, which are either underway or starting shooting within the next week or so.

Military drama Valor, also airing on The CW, begins shooting in metro Atlanta on July 28. Matt Barr and Christina Ochoa star in the series, which premieres on October 9.

Season 2 of The Breaks, which moves from VH1 to BET, beginning with the upcoming season, begins shooting in mid-August. Shooting for the series is scheduled to take place both in Atlanta and in New York City.
