ATLANTA -- A big name in the rap world with strong ties to Atlanta will soon join a handful of well-known artists to perform at an Atlanta Hawks game.
The Atlanta Business Chronicle reports that Gucci Mane will be performing at the Nov. 22 game against the New Orleans Pelicans.
He joins a fairly short list of well-known Atlanta rappers to take the Philips Arena court for halftime that includes T.I, Ludacris, Jermaine Dupri, Big Boi, Cee-Lo, Rich Homie Quan and 2 Chainz, the website reports.
The move comes ahead of a recently-announced Dec. 16 release for his third album of the year.
The pre-game, halftime and post-game concerts have been a major part of the events in recent years and have clearly drawn major names.
Philips Arena and Hawks CEO Steve Koonin told Chronicle that it's the venue that keeps the artists coming - not just rap but also artists like Adele and Bruce Springsteen - and that's a big part of what the plan for the location and fan culture.
