NBC's fall schedule was announced on Monday -- the beginning of what is traditionally called 'Upfront Week' -- the official preview week for the broadcast networks to announce new shows for the upcoming television season.

The fall schedule for NBC includes very few new series, but a lot of shifts for familiar shows, and a return of the 'Must See TV' marquee for Thursday nights.

Last season's breakout hit, 'This is Us', moves to Thursday night at 9 pm, and anchors the 'Must See TV' lineup. Along with the move to Thursdays, NBC announced that an episode of 'This is Us' will land in the coveted time slot that airs right after the network's broadcast of Super Bowl LII next February.

Thursdays will open with the return of 'Will & Grace' to NBC after more than 10 years off the air. Original series stars Eric McCormack, Debra Messing, Megan Mullally and Sean Hayes have all returned to their roles for at least 12 episodes premiering this fall. Series director James Burrows has also returned, as have original series writers and creators Max Mutchnick and David Kohan, all hoping to recreate the magic that topped the ratings for NBC for eight seasons.

The comedy 'Great News' premiered last month to good ratings, and has already seen a green light for a second season of 13 episodes. It follows 'Will & Grace' at 8:30 Thursdays.

Legendary producer Dick Wolf has taken his 'ripped from the headlines' mantra to another level with 'Law & Order True Crime: The Melendez Murders', Thursday nights at 10. Emmy and Golden Globe winner Edie Falco stars in an 8-episode dramatization of the true-crime notorious murder case that hopes to launch a new anthology series as part of the Law & Order franchise.

The only other new show landing on the network's fall schedule shows up on the Monday night schedule: 'The Brave' is set to air Mondays at 10 pm, right after 'The Voice'. Anne Heche plays the deputy director of the DIA, and leads her team of analysts with the world's most advanced surveillance technology from Washington, while a Special Ops squad executes covert missions all over the world.
