After three years of negotiations with UPS, the company's airline mechanics voted to strike due to disagreements over health care benefits with the shipping giant. The strike comes after the release of the company's third quarter earnings report which showed that u-p-s beat expectations with nearly $15 billion in revenue. UPS also announced plans to buy 14 jumbo jets from Boeing over the next four years. UPS pilots say they support the strike, which, if it goes into effect, would effectively ground the company's global shipping operations. UPS says under labor laws, the vote does not give the union the right to strike, and ups adds that they are continuing their negotiations with the teamsters. READ MORE

The Weather Company is cutting more ties with the Weather Channel with a move into metro Atlanta. The new headquarters will be located just inside the perimeter at Ashford Dunwoody Road. IBM acquired the Weather Company back in January and their new HQ will create about 400 jobs in their software, product development, engineering, technology and marketing departments. READ MORE

Singapore-based software firm, Trax is also putting their American headquarters in the Atlanta area. Trax uses image recognition and AI in their supply chain software to track packages on shelves to ensure they are at the right place with the correct price. Kabbage has a couple of new department heads leading the fin-tech company. Amala Duggirala has been named as the company's Chief Technology Officer and Rama Rao joins Kabbage as the Chief Data Officer. Kabbage automates the loan application and approval process for small businesses. READ MORE

Intent Solutions announced that it has raised $1.5 million dollars in seed funding. The medical technology company created a smart, mobile medical dispenser called "tad" short for "take as directed".
