ATLANTA -- One local veterinarian flipped the script Monday to give back to service dogs who have served their humans by being their eyes, ears and emotional support.

On Monday afternoon, Dr. Caroline Monk of BluePearl Veterinary Partners helped perform free eye exams for pre-registered service dogs as a way to say thank you.

“This service gives back to our community, to veterans, to first-responders and search and rescue, to people with disabilities and others,” said Monk, who is a board-certified veterinary ophthalmologist. “It is such an honor to be able to help these amazing dogs who dedicate their lives to helping others.”

According to BluePearl, the free eye exams are an annual, nation-wide event sponsored by the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists and Stokes Pharmacy.
