This young Atlanta man knows what Christmas is all about.

Jerry Hatcher, Jr., was up bright and early on Christmas Eve morning and asked his parents to drive him to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

With a wad of cash that he's been earning and saving all year long, Jerry was on a mission to bring cheer to families with sick children.

Jerry knows what it's like for these families; he lost his little brother to an illness. And so, for the past five years, he's done his best to make the holidays a little lighter for them.

As families began making their way into the hospital cafeteria on Sunday morning, Jerry hid behind the cash registers. Every time a patient's family member pulled out their wallet to make a purchase, Jerry jumped out, pulled cash from his pocket, and wished them a merry Christmas.

Hospital officials tell us that gasp, hugs and happy tears ensued, leaving no doubt the spirit of the season arrived on Christmas Eve, thanks to Jerry.
