ATLANTA -- Three people were taken to the hospital when a vehicle crashed into a barrier wall of Interstate 20 during a police chase on Monday.
According to Georgia State Patrol, the pursuit began after a trooper tried to stop a stolen 2010 Nissan Maxima on I-20 eastbound at Boulevard. The Nissan exited the lanes for Bill Kennedy Blvd and then tried to reenter I-20. As it did, the trooper performed a PIT maneuver and the Nissan went off the road and struck a concrete sound wall on the shoulder.
Two people had to be extricated from the vehicle. Of the three taken to the hospital, two were said to be in critical condition, according to Atlanta Fire Department spokesperson Cortez Stafford. They were all juveniles, according to GSP.
