ATLANTA -- For the third time, Tim Small is concerned about the disappearing earth beneath a sidewalk on Peachtree Hills Avenue.

Twice before, the city of Atlanta has filled the hole. First, crews used dirt. The second time, they used a combination of dirt and gravel.

Small says both times, the hole beneath the sidewalk returned. He's worried the hole will continue to grow, threatening the sidewalk and the many people who use it.

"It's a hazard to people who walk their dogs, to joggers," said Small.

There is a sewer line nearby, and a distinct sewage odor coming from the hole.

Commuter Dude contacted the city's Department of Watershed Management. A spokesperson says crews will make repairs to a channel located above the storm line on Peachtree Hills. The city didn't indicate what would be used to fill the hole this time.
