DECATUR, Ga. -- A 74-year-old man was killed in front of his caretaker after confronting a suspect with a wheelbarrow, Friday afternoon.
DeKalb County police responding to the 911 call found the elderly man dead outside his home on Kings Park Way.
The caretaker told police the elderly man, identified as Melvin Cleveland, was inside the home when he saw a stranger pushing a wheelbarrow through his front yard. He opened the door and asked the man what he was doing.

The caretaker heard a gunshot and ran to the front door. The victim had been shot in the chest.
The shooter ditched the wheelbarrow and ran. The caretaker only saw the suspect from behind as he ran away. He was described as a black man wearing a dark hoodie and jeans.
Police are still searching for the suspect. Anyone with information about the crime or the suspect should call DeKalb County police.
