CARRABELLE, Fla. -- Authorities in Clayton County are on high alert for a 40-year-old man they say is accused of raping a teenage girl in Florida.

In a media release, the Clayton County Sheriff's Office said that Sheriff Victor Hill was contacted by officials in Franklin County, Fla. with concerns that Gary L. Denny might be in the area.

Denny is wanted in the Florida county on warrants for sexual battery of a physically incapacitated victim and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Authorities with the sheriff's office their told Sheriff Hill that he might be in Clayton County or the metro Atlanta area. He is described as a white male with brown hair and black eyes. He is about 5 feet 10 inches tall and 140 pounds.

Police believe he may be in a blue 2006 Chevrolet truck with a Florida State University license plate reading WV91B.

He was previously convicted of committing a lewd or lascivious offense against a person under 16 in 1996. He was later charged with failure to comply with registration as a sex offender in 2011.
