Police search for answers after shooting death case goes cold

A 28-year-old was killed in April 2017 and now police need help to find answers.

EAST POINT, Ga. - Investigators need help solving a one-year-old cold case that left a man dead in 2017 after he opened his door.

In the early afternoon on April 4, 2017, Robert Green Jr., 28, was found shot multiple times in the doorway of his apartment at Lakeshire Village Apartments on Spanish Trail in East Point, Georgia.

Police believe that a man knocked on Green's door and, somehow, a fight began. During the struggle, Green was shot.

Detective Ebony Johnson with East Point Police said Green’s 5-year-old daughter and grown nephew were at home at the time of the shooting. She said Green’s nephew came running out of the bathroom to find his uncle laying on the floor, and his daughter also heard the shots and ran to him.

Police said someone targeted Green and they're asking for any information that could help crack this cold case.

“Maybe one of [Green’s] neighbors in the neighboring apartments may have recalled something and just haven’t come forward with the information,” Det. Johnson said.

If anyone has any information on this incident, they are asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477 (TIPS).
