ATLANTA -- A deadly early morning accident on Saturday has Gwinnett Police working diligently to identify the victim.
Police said the accident happened just before 4 a.m. on Lawrenceville Highway just south of Sugarloaf Parkway.
That's where officers found a partially clothed black male lying in the middle of the road who they soon pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigation determined that the man had been hit by a vehicle but failed to turn up any identification on his person.
Now police are hoping someone in the public will be able to identify the victim by description.
The man is described as being between 20 and 25 years old. He has short black hair, brown eyes and facial hair - a mustache and goatee.
The victim also had multiple tattoos.
At the time of the incident, he was wearing a maroon shirt, black jeans and brown boots.
Police said he was crossing outside of a crosswalk when he was struck and that the driver left the scene in the suspect vehicle but was recovered a short distance away and arrested.
Anyone with information about who the victim was has been requested to call the Gwinnett County Police Department Accident Investigation Unit at 770-513-5700.
