Griffin bicyclist killed by driver; suspect still on the run

We now know the name of a bicyclist killed by a hit-and-run driver

GRIFFIN, Ga. -- The Georgia State Patrol (GSP) is asking for assistance finding a hit-and-run suspect that killed a bicyclist in Griffin, Georgia.

The accident happened Monday on Old Atlanta Road north of Vinyard Road when an unknown vehicle struck Shawn Wright of Griffin as he was riding north along the roadway.

The driver then left the scene of the collision and left Wright to die. Authorities are now searching for the suspect and the maroon or pearl red van that he was driving. Authorities believe it might have been a Dodge Caravan or Chrysler Town and Country - a year model between 2001 and 2017.

They believe it will have damage on the front passenger side headlight. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call the GSP Troop D Communication Center at 770-254-7201.
