He was giving 2 men directions to a MARTA station. They shot him at least 3 times, police say

Police are still investigating the shooting.

ATLANTA -- Police say a man was allegedly trying to help two others find the nearby MARTA station when they opened fire and left him on the side of the road.

The incident happened around 7:35 p.m. in the 1700 block of Browning Street NW. That's where police ultimately found the victim with the gunshot wounds.  Authorities say that, according to the victim, they had walked from a nearby convenience store and were somewhere along Browning Street when the men pulled a gun and attempted to rob him.

But, before they allegedly took anything, the victim said the suspects opened fire and then ran. It didn't appear they ever took anything, police said.

The victim's exact condition wasn't released though police said he was stable and receiving treatment at an area hospital.
