DALLAS, Ga – The man suspected of severely beating a Paulding County blind woman has been taken into custody.
According to the Paulding County Sheriff’s department, Charles Brandon Ayers, 37, was arrested Saturday without incident.
Ayers is charged with aggravated battery and theft by conversion out of Paulding County. He was also wanted in Douglas County for aggravated assault for allegedly beating another woman. All charges are felony offenses.
Police say Ayers beat Tammy Usher over the span of three days. Usher suffered facial fractures, lacerations, contusion, and bruising.
"Probably one of the most severe beatings we've seen according to some of our detectives," Paulding County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Ashley Henson said.
On April 26, deputies said Usher and Ayers left her home in Paulding County in the family truck. Her family did not hear from her until three days later. On April 29, deputies said Ayers dropped her off at the Loves Truck Stop in Emerson, Ga. where she asked a friend to take her to the hospital.
