The 25-year-old father accused of killing his young son and then burying him was involved in another violent incident last June, 11Alive has learned.

Police say Montrais Boyd killed his 5-year-old son at a home on Rock Pine Drive Wednesday and then buried him in the backyard.

Police have not determined a motive in the child's murder.

Last June, Boyd was arrested in Flagstaff, Ariz. after he allegedly hit a patrol car with his fists and his car while his then-4-year-old son was on board, according to a report from our sister station 12News.

Arizona State Troopers were responding to a report of a man who had been involved in a possible domestic incident lying in the median along Interstate 17.

When the trooper arrived, a naked man ran towards the patrol car and hit it with his fists, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety. The trooper drove away from the man and stopped in front of a black BMW blocking a lane. The trooper said he spotted the child in the BMW. The trooper said the naked man then got in the BMW and began using it to ram the patrol car.

The man fled the scene, driving the wrong way on the interstate. The vehicle eventually ran into a rock embankment and rolled over. The naked man was taken into custody and identified as Boyd.

Both Boyd and his son were treated for minor injuries. The boy was reunited with his mother at the hospital.

Boyd was charged with aggravated assault with a dangerous instrument, felony endangerment, child abuse and criminal damage.

It's not clear what became of those charges.

Police said the boy had been staying with his grandmother and her young children in DeKalb County, Ga. for about a month before his death. His parents had come to visit him on Tuesday.

The boy's grandmother and mother left the house at some point on Wednesday. When they returned, the children delivered the grisly news. She dug up her son with her bare hands was carrying the body when police arrived.

Boyd was taken into custody without incident.
