LOGANVILLE, Ga. – A man is in custody after he barricaded himself inside a Loganville residence earlier on Saturday.

Police were deployed to the 1300 block of Stream Walk Drive in Loganville at around 9 a.m. after a reported domestic dispute between the man and his ex-girlfriend.

On the scene, officers determined that the suspect address was actually in the 3100 block of Victoria Ridge Court. Authorities believed the suspect, 20-year-old Nathaniel Washington may have been armed after they spoke with the victim.

That victim reported that due to on-going arguments with Washington, she made multiple attempts to leave the home but was physically taken back inside. Only after agreeing to leave her cell phone behind did Washington allegedly allow her to leave. The victim went to a nearby neighbor for help and used their phone to contact police.

However, as police attempted to communicate with Washington, it became clear that he had no intention of leaving the residence so SWAT officers were called in.

After one and a half hours, the SWAT team successfully negotiated with Washington who left the home and was taken into custody without incident.

He now faces one count of aggravated assault by strangulation, one count of false imprisonment, one count simple assault and one count of battery.
