More than $10K worth of marijuana seized by Fulton County marshals

It's the largest seizure for the marshal's office in more than a decade.

Fulton County marshals seized more than $10,000 worth of marijuana on Tuesday, the second largest amount of the plant ever seized in department history.

The marijuana was discovered while marshals were serving an eviction notice on Split Pine Court. A total of 12 pounds of marijuana were seized, and are being turned to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for destruction.

"This is a good victory for us," said Sgt. David Thomas of the department's eviction office. "You never know what you're going to find during an eviction service. We're happy to take these drugs off the streets."

Thomas said no one was home when the notice was served and the drugs were discovered.

Marshals said the drugs would have been sold on the street for between $800 to $1,200 a pound.
