Ongoing dispute between Georgia State students lead to stabbing

One of the students has been transported and the other was taken into custody.

ATLANTA -- Police are investigating a fight between college students that left a student stabbed.

On Tuesday, at approximately 1:27 a.m., Atlanta Police and Georgia State University Police responded to a call of a fight between two men in Piedmont North, Building B's laundry room.

One student, Nakia Roach, was located in the laundry room and had several stab wounds. He was taken to Grady Hospital in stable condition. The second student, Sean Rowtham, was located by police in the lobby and detained.

GSU Police took the lead on the investigation, and determined that the two students know each other and had an on-going dispute.

Roach was actively looking for Rowtham and when he found him he spit on him and engaged in a physical confrontation, striking Rowtham with his fists. Rowtham responded by stabbing Roach several times during the affray.

Both men have been charged in this incident.

Rowtham was charged with aggravated assault and is in custody. Roach has been charged with simple battery.

GSUPD said there is no indication that anyone in the Georgia State University system knew or were advised of any type of harassment or bullying. and police have no reports of any prior harassment or bullying involving these two men.
