CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. -- Police in Clayton County are still searching for a suspect involved in a fatal shooting in an area apartment complex Saturday afternoon.

The shooting happened around 1:30 p.m. in the area of Riverdale Road and Garden Walk Boulevard. That's where police on patrol first heard gunshots. They traced them to Highland Woods Apartments at 5751 Riverdale Road and found a man laying on the pavement with gunshot wounds while residents flagged down the officers saying the shooter was running from the scene.

The victim, who has since been identified as 20-year-old Fanoris Jermaine Jackson Jr. of Albany, Ga., was rushed to the hospital by Clayton County Fire and Emergency Services. Sadly, he was later pronounced dead by medical personnel.

Police pursued the suspect but were not able to catch him. He was described as a dark-skinned black male who is between 5 feet 9 inches and 5 feet 11 inches tall and estimated at about 150 to 160 pounds. Police said he was wearing all black.
