Police: Thief steals minivan, credit cards, buys bouquet of flowers

The minivan is still listed as stolen nine days later.

DULUTH, Ga. — Police are asking for residents to keep their eyes open for a stolen minivan and the person who took it.

According to the Gwinnett County Police Department, a Duluth man was at a local gym off Pleasant Hill Road Sunday afternoon when he noticed someone had broken into his locked locker and stolen some of his things, including his wallet and the keys to his minivan. The man rushed to the parking lot, but by the time he got there, he told police his van was nowhere to be seen.

Shortly after, the victim told police ha began to get alerts that his credit cards were being used to make purchases at a multiple grocery stores.

Investigators visited one of the grocery stores and reviewed surveillance video, where they spotted the suspect walking up to a self-checkout with a bouquet of yellow flowers. Police said the suspect used the victim's credit cards to buy the flowers, along with several gift cards. In total, police said the suspect charged nearly $500 to the card at that location, and another $638 at a second location.

Police said the black minivan, a 2016 Kia Sedona, is still listed as stolen nine days after the theft. The license plate should display RZZ1150. If anyone spots the van, they're asked to call Gwinnett Police detectives at 770-513-5300.
