Stone Mountain man accused of gunning down girlfriend captured in North Carolina

Keitran Foots, 30, accused of shooting his girlfriend to death in their driveway on Friday morning, was captured by authorities early Sunday morning in a shed in Granville County, North Carolina.
Keitran Foots was arrested in Granville County, NC after authorities from DeKalb County, GA pinged his cellphone. Foots is charged with the murder of 35-year-old Sharika Bowman in the driveway of their shared home in Stone Mountain on Fri. Mar. 30.

OXFORD, NC -- A 30-year-old Stone Mountain man was arrested early Sunday morning in North Carolina after police said he gunned down his girlfriend in her driveway Friday morning.

Keitran Foots was arrested by deputies with the Granville County Sheriff's Office in Oxford, N.C. when they located him in a shed off of the US 158 Bypass near the Granville County-Vance County border.

Granville County Sheriff Brindell Wilkins told 11Alive News that his office was contacted by DeKalb County police officials Saturday evening after they had been able to ping the location of Foots' cellphone. They were able to locate Foots in a hotel parking lot. When deputies arrived, Foots took off, driving northbound on Interstate 85, with law enforcement in pursuit.

Sheriff Wilkins said Foots exited the interstate near the border of Vance County and was able to lose authorities.

DeKalb officials were able to ping Foots' cellphone once again, locating it in a nearby shed, where Foots was quickly located and taken into custody without incident.

DeKalb County Police investigators said that when 35-year-old Sharika Bowman returned to their home in the 4700 block of Wyndham Road Friday morning at about 10 a.m., Foots approached her SUV and shot her multiple times, killing her.

Wilkins said five deputies from his office participated in the pursuit, along with assets from the Vance County Sheriff's Office, Oxford Police Department, Henderson Police Department and the North Carolina Highway Patrol.

Foots is currently being held in the Granville County Jail without bond and awaiting authorities from DeKalb County to come to North Carolina to retrieve him.
