OAKWOOD, Ga. — A popular Hall County business is picking up the pieces after police claimed to have caught the prime suspect in a messy burglary.

Police in Oakwood said that around 8:15 a.m., they were called by the owner of BabyCakes Florist, Cafe and Bakery who noticed the glass busted on their front door.

While investigating the scene, officers went around to the back and found 18-year-old Robert Daren Hornsby, detaining him without incident.

But further investigation revealed serious damage to the property and merchandise inside. Surveillance video later showed Hornsby entering and exiting the business.

Around the same time as the burglary call, police said they also received a report of a stolen Dodge Charger from another business. The person who reported it claimed it may have been taken by a man named "Darren."

Suspecting the crimes may be connected, police began their search for and eventually found the vehicle at a nearby business with a small amount of marijuana inside.

Due to the crimes he's now suspected of committing, Hornsby was charged with burglary, property damage, possession of marijuana and vehicle theft.

The business owner, who hadn't yet estimated the damage, said in a Facebook post that they were forced to close that day to work on repairing the damage.
