ATLANTA — A 15-year-old male was shot and killed Sunday night in northwest Atlanta's Carroll Heights community.
Police responded to a call around 7 p.m. regarding a shooting on the 800 block of Mercury Drive.
The victim had been shot once in the chest. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital where he died.
Police said their preliminary investigation indicated the victim was inside the bedroom of a residence he was visiting. Three or four other males were also inside the room when he was shot. Police said about eight to nine adults were inside the home, including the homeowner.
The weapon was not inside the home when police arrived, and they have not located the gun.
