LITHIA SPRINGS, Ga. -- A holiday weekend party erupted into gunfire in Lithia Springs on Friday.

11Alive has learned that one woman has died and two suspects have been taken into custody after the shooting, which happened on Sweet Ridge Court around 7:30 p.m. - right by a library and Turner Middle School.

Officials believe this all began during a party or cookout of some sort at a house along the street. Police confirmed the woman's death but haven't yet released what circumstances ultimately led to the shooting.

However, it was clear that family and friends at the scene were extremely tense.

"Emotions were high," Douglas County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Jesse Hambrick said. "Anytime we have a situation where someone has been injured or someone lost their life, friends and family were upset. We were able to get with them and let them know that we're doing the best job we can."

Police haven't released the name of the woman who was killed and no real details have been released of the two shooters apparently involved. But deputies said they don't believe anyone else was involved.
