Woman hurt after driver shoots through window in I-20 road-rage incident

The person is in moderate to serious condition.

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Police say a suspect is on the run after he opened fire on a 24-year-old woman during a road-rage shooting in the middle of rush-hour traffic Friday evening.

The shooting happened just after 6 p.m. on the entry ramp to I-20 West from Columbia Drive.

According to DeKalb County Police, the suspect and the victim were merging onto I-20 when the victim passed the suspect on the entry ramp.

Police said the suspect, a man in his 50s, became "irate" and pulled around the victim's Nissan Altima and fired into the driver's side window.

Police believe the victim was hit by shattering glass. A passenger also in the car at the time was unhurt.

The 24-year-old was alert when first responders got to the scene, where she was transported to the hospital.

Police are still looking for the suspect, who continued driving down I-20 west.
