ATLANTA -- What police believe started as men washing a car somehow escalated to gunfire in Atlanta, Saturday afternoon. But they still aren't sure why.
Atlanta Police Department Major John Quigley said that the incident happened in the 3300 block of Mt. Gilead Road at Delta Kingston Abbey Apartment Homes around 6:15 p.m. Police arrived to find a 25-year-old man with a gunshot wound. Major Quigley said the victim was taken to the hospital and is listed as stable.
But with the victim not cooperating, authorities have turned to witnesses for help. Security guards told police that a few men were talking and cleaning a car at the location before the gunfire. Police believe that there may have been some sort of dispute that escalated but the incident is still under investigation and no one is in custody.
Nearby, police also responded to a suspicious person who they found is wanted in a separate incident. However, Major Quigley said that they are not aware if he was connected in any way to the shooting.
