RABUN COUNTY, Ga. -- The celestial event of the century delivered
The first total solar eclipse of the sun in the continental U.S. in 38 years happened Monday afternoon.
Even after all the hype, the eclipse exceeded expectations.
Thousands watched across north Georgia, where those in the very northeast corner got to see a total eclipse (watch the moment below).
11Alive was live with the Rabun County Tourism Development Authority for their OutASight Eclipse Viewing Festival. The clouds mostly stayed out of the way for the large crowd gathered for the special event.
Over in Athens, Ga., tens of thousands packed Sanford Stadium for the experience.
