Georgia native to perform for America's vote this week on NBC's The Voice

11Alive sat down to talk with Wilkes' wife and daughter about The Voice journey so far.

NBC's The Voice season 14 is heading into the week of America's vote where the remaining 24 artists will perform for a chance to continue on in the competition.

The only Georgia resident remaining in the competition is 34-year-old Jason Wilkes.

11Alive spoke to his wife and daughter via Skype before they took off for the live shows in Los Angeles.

Wife Chelsey was all smiles as she spoke about her husband and his journey to get to this point.

"It's really exciting to see that the world sees him now," says Chelsey.

Wilkes grew up in Cedartown, but currently lives with his family in the small northern Georgia town of Waleska.

Chelsey owns a hair salon in Holly Springs while Wilkes is a stay-at-home dad with a publishing deal in Nashville as a country song writer.

He grew up singing Christian music, and has been in a few different bands throughout the years. One being the Christian rock band called Disciple, who released the album "Attack" in 2014.

In the blind auditions, coaches Adam Levine and Blake Shelton turned their chairs for his rendition of "One Headlight" by the Wallflowers.

Blake won him over, saying "the longer the song went on, the more you kept turning the dial getting it closer and closer to ten. That was the difference maker. I think there is a wide open lane for someone that sounds like you on my team. I'm a fan."

Chelsey and daughter Linley were back stage during the blind's and continue to be by his side during this incredible journey. Below are the two Wilkes ladies and the rest of the clan leaving Sunday for LA.

"He is truly one of the most amazing people I've ever met. He's humble, and he's not prideful at all," says Chelsey. Going on to say that he is an "extreme introvert".

Blake and the other coaches have made several comments about how Wilkes looks like he is half asleep every time they see him. That is until the music comes on.

Up until this week it has been up to the coaches to decide who makes it threw to the next round. Monday night the top voted artists will move on to the next round, and the rest will perform for another night of voting.

Chelsey says she will be cheering him on loudly this week, even explaining that she wrote in her wedding vows that she would see him through his musical career "no matter what".

As for daughter Linley, when asked if she is proud of her dad, she says yes and the she loves her dad.

You can vote for Wilkes by tweeting or by using The Voice app during voting hours. This week it will go from 24 artists to 12.

The Voice airs Monday 8pm-10pm and Tuesday 8pm-9pm eastern time.
