EAST POINT, Ga. -- The cause of a house fire in East Point is under investigation, Monday, after fire crews found a victim's body inside the home.
According to city officials in East Point, firefighters responded to a home in the 2200 block of Fernwood Drive around 6 a.m. to find the home completely engulfed in flames.
Fire crews were able to get the fire under control just before 7 a.m. and completely extinguished it by 7:15. That's when they found a person's body inside the structure. Their identity has not been released.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is now underway. Fire officials said the structure was completely destroyed.
