ATLANTA -- Bobbi Kristina Brown had alcohol, marijuana and numerous drugs in her system when she was found unresponsive in her bathtub in January of 2015, according to an autopsy report released after a legal petition filed by 11Alive.

Brown, the 22-year-old daughter of the late Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown, died last July -- months after being found unresponsive in the tub of her Roswell home on Jan. 31, 2015. Brown never regained consciousness.

On Thursday, Judge Henry M. Newkirk responded to a motion filed by WXIA-TV's parent company, TEGNA Media, in the Superior Court of Fulton County to unseal the autopsy report.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner released a summary of the autopsy findings on Friday.

Brown's cause of death is listed as lobar pneumonia due to "Hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy, delayed effects" and "Immersion of face in water complicating mixed drug intoxication."

The autopsy findings indicated multiple drugs were involved, including: marijuana, alcohol (ethanol), benzoylecgonine (a cocaine-related substance), benzodiazepines (medications used for sedation or to treat anxiety) and morphine. The report goes on to say it could not be determined from toxicology tests whether the morphine resulted from heroin use.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner said there are still questions surrounding the manner of death. Deaths can either result from natural causes like disease, a unintentional cause like an accident or intentional causes like suicide and homicide. Regarding Brown's manner of death, the autopsy summary read, "the medical examiner has not been able to determine whether death was due to intentional or accidental causes, and has therefore classified the manner of death as Undetermined."

"Death was clearly not due to natural causes."

11Alive expects to get more details as full autopsy results have not yet been released.

According to USA Today, Bobbi Kristina's father Bobby Brown issued a statement early Friday saying he was "unsettled" by the release, which came on what would have been her 23rd birthday.

“First and foremost, 23 years ago today, Bobbi Kristina was born. Krissy will always live in my heart and soul. I love my baby girl," Bobby Brown said. "For news affiliates to seek and obtain my daughter’s autopsy report, before anyone has been brought to justice for her death, is mind blowing to me. Please pray for my family.”

The Fulton County District Attorney is still investigating whether to pursue criminal charges in the case.

11Alive legal analyst Phil Holloway said he's seen hints that the district attorney may be building a criminal case.

"This gives the district attorney some incentive to decide whether there are going to be any criminal charges, he said in court we don’t have any indictments yet," Holloway said. "The key word is yet; we know it’s being considered."

Holloway said that the autopsy is just one piece of the puzzle, and that witnesses, physical evidence and confidential medical records will give prosecutors more information to work with.

"There's nothing in this autopsy that tells how Ms. Brown got into this medical condition," Holloway said. "How she died is really not a mystery -- it’s how she got to be in that condition that’s that question."

A civil lawsuit filed by Bobbi Kristina's conservator last August accused her longtime boyfriend Nick Gordon of assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and transferring money from her account into his own without authorization. Gordon has denied responsibility.

"The medical examiner's report confirms she had a lot of drugs, the question is was it voluntary or not voluntary.that’s the basis of the civil lawsuit," Holloway said.

11Alive's efforts to unseal the autopsy comes one week after the digital premiere of the four-part digital documentary, Inside the Triangle. That investigation about heroin use in Atlanta's northern affluent suburbs uncovered a connection between Bobbi Kristina and three heroin-related deaths in the area. Episode 2 of the digital series covers that connection. Watch it here.
