COBB COUNTY, Ga. -- Armed only with only a knife, a masked man may have thought he got away with robbing a local bank on Friday.

But unfortunately for him, his escape didn't last long. It was mid-afternoon when Cobb County officers were sent to the Wells Fargo at 1547 Powers Ferry Road.

Speaking with those who lived through the ordeal, police learned that the suspect made his way in around 2 p.m. With knife in-hand, witnesses said he began demanding money from the tellers and then left with the cash.

Despite the fact that he covered his face during the crime, authorities were able to get a decent enough description of the suspect to put out an alert to neighboring departments. Soon enough, he was caught on Ashford-Dunwoody Road not far from Perimeter Mall.

Handcuffed, unmasked an unarmed, police learned that the suspect was 30-year-old Ariam Malayery of Marietta, Georgia.

Depending on what the courts decide, Malayery could be facing serious time for what police believe he did. He's facing a charge of armed robbery and two counts of aggravated assault.

Meanwhile, his escape now likely won't be as easy as it was at the bank. He's being held without bond at the Cobb County Jail.
