HABERSHAM COUNTY, Ga. -- Authorities said several people were arrested in an investigation into a "large scale" heroin operation in Habersham County.
According to release from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the 18-month investigation was in response to several heroin-related overdose incidents in the county.
The investigation targeted a group allegedly operated by Michelle Dawn "Cinnamon" Dorsey.
Dorsey's group is believed to be responsible for trafficking $100,000 worth of heroin in the area.
On Tuesday, authorities executed search warrants at a home in Demorest, Ga., and another in Cleveland, Ga.. Those raids found about $7,000 worth of heroin and led to the arrest of Dorsey and two others.
Dorsey, 45, is charged with trafficking heroin.
Nigel Alan Waddle, 28, of Cornelia, Ga., was arrested and charged with trafficking heroin and possession of marijuana.
Tyler Josiah "Big Un" Matthews, 26, of Cleveland, Ga., was charged with trafficking heroin.
The operation was conducted by the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office, a multi-agency unit.
