LAGRANGE, GA. -- Two young children drowned in a lake in Troup County on Sunday, authorities confirmed.

Troup County deputies responded to a call on Lower Glass Bridge Road in LaGrange just after 4:17 p.m. The call concerned two young children who were thought to have drowned.

A handful of witnesses said that A’jada Solmoan McGuire, 12, of Douglasville and Carson Woodall, 12, of Atlanta did not resurfaced from under the water during a swimming outing. The two were visiting West Point Lake with family.

Troup County Fire and EMS joined the search as well as Troup County Sheriff’s Office investigators and dive team members, the Georgia Dept of Natural Resources, the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers and the LaGrange Police Department.

Officers say that the bodies of both children were found by divers around 7:30 p.m.

The Sheriff's office said it shares its condolences with the family.

No charges have been filed at this time.
