Officials believe a Midtown Atlanta shootout began as a dispute in a nearby night club that poured into the streets.

The Thursday night scene left hundreds ducking and dodging bullets at the corner of Crescent Ave. and 12th Street.

An off-duty officer called for help around 11:30 p.m. after witnesses reported a suspect with an AK-47 inside a nearby parking garage. Officers soon learned multiple shots were being fired in a small vicinity.

Multiple buildings were hit by gunshots. The first was the Crescent Place Apartments. Another bullet pierced through a window at the Marriott hotel.

Yet another bullet landed inside the sprinkler system at the Mayfair Condominiums, flooding one of the unit.

Musician Ydot Gdot from Chicago said he was en route to his performance when he heard bullets whizzing by.

“We seen people running and we heard the shots and everybody just got low,” he said.

He kept low inside an SUV.

“I was in the truck, my head was right there and thankfully it didn't hit the glass,” he said.

The musician said bullets narrowly missed his head.

Joseph Frazier was inside a club when shots rang out. When security finally released patrons after the gunfire ceased, he came out to his car to find half of his windows shattered.

Police shut down Crescent Avenue and held 100 vehicles for processing as part of the crime scene. The area was reopened around 2:30 a.m.

Authorities said more than 60 rounds of bullets were fired from four different weapons. An AK-47 was found in the bushes; a .40 caliber pistol was discovered nearby.

There were no reports of injuries.

No motive in the shooting has been released, and no suspects have been taken into custody.
