ATLANTA -- A standoff at an apartment complex in northwest Atlanta ended with the 911 caller being arrested Tuesday afternoon.
SWAT units were at the scene of a situation at an apartment complex on the 2500 block of Etheridge Drive NW.
Lt. Jeff Cantin said the man who made the 911 call claimed there were three males inside his apartment and when he tried to enter, they shut the door in hi face.The man also told police one of the men was armed.
Atlanta Police responded and a SWAT standoff ensued. A warrant was also obtained to enter the apartment.
"We were out here for two hours trying to use the loud speaker to get whoever was in there, if anybody, to come out, and when they didn't, then we had to go in. We did have to breach the door and use gas. No one was inside," Cantin said.
By 1:50 p.m., the standoff was over and the caller was led away in handcuffs. He admitted to police that he may have been on drugs when he made the 911 call.
He was checked by Grady Memorial Hospital staff on scene and taken to jail.
Atlanta Fire-Rescue responded to ventilate the apartment due to the flash grenades used.
The caller's name has not been released. Police said he will be charged with giving false information and making a false police report.
