ATLANTA - Three Atlanta Public School teachers now hold the title of 2016-17 District wide Teacher of the Year. Superintendent Meria Carstarphen paid the teachers a surprise visit on Wednesday.

Jennifer Kraften was named Elementary school Teacher of the Year. She teaches at Fred A. Toomer Elementary. John Wingate was named Middle School Teacher of the Year. He's a teacher a Martin L. King Middle School. Gerald Kosoff teaches at KIPP Atlanta Collegiate School and was named High School Teacher of the Year.

The teachers will be honored during the APyeS! Awards ceremony on Oct. 26 at 5:30 p.m. at Rich Theater, Woodruff Arts Center, located at 1280 Peachtree St NE.
