Authorities identify man recovered from Forsyth County lake

FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — The body of a 27-year-old man was recovered from a lake in Forsyth County on Sunday, authorities said.

Authorities were first dispatched to a private lake off Dahlonega Highway Saturday at around 7 p.m. near Oak Grove. 

According to the Forsyth County Fire Department, it was believed that the victim, 28-year-old Saul Sanchez, was fishing on a small boat on Saturday. His friend showed up to fish with him and he saw him drowning.

Before the friend could get to him, Sanchez went under the water and never came back up. 

Around 3 p.m. Sunday, Sanchez's body was found in 6 feet deep water by divers.

The case is being investigated as an accidental drowning, fire officials said.

Also assisting in the search were the Forsyth County Sheriff's Department, Georgia State Patrol aviation unit and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.
