BARTOW COUNTY - Bartow County firefighters deployed Wednesday afternoon to aid in the West Mims fire near the GA/FL line.

Chief Dwayne Jamison said a call for help was sent via email to fire departments across the state asking for extra fire engines, water tenders and brush trucks.

The chief said firefighters from across the nation are flying in to help.

The Bartow fire crew was asked to aid for a minimum of 48 hours but Chief Jamison expects they may be there a little longer.
