Bobby Jones Golf Course part of land swap to state

The Atlanta City Council has approved a land swap deal which will give possession of the Bobby Jones Golf Course to the state, converting it from an 18-hole course to a 9-hole golf course.

ATLANTA – The Atlanta City Council has approved a land swap deal which will give possession of the Bobby Jones Golf Course to the state, converting it from an 18-hole course to a 9-hole golf course.

In exchange, the Atlanta Business Chronicle says the city will acquire a state-owned parking deck in downtown Atlanta, which is a key part of a mixed-use project at the Underground Atlanta site.

Supporters say the swap will allow for major improvements at the Bobby Jones site. Critics say the city should have considered private funding first.
